EPISTEME (Enhancing Political Science Teaching Quality and Mobility in Europe) is a project funded by the EU Directorate General: Education, Culture and Youth under
the Thematic Networks option of the SOCRATES programme. Initiated in 2001-2002 and continued
in 2002-2003, it builds upon and prolongs the work of the Political Science Thematic Network (TN) carried on between 1997 and 2001.
It aims to help political science departments and teachers in adjusting to the requirements generated by the reforms in the EU and national higher education systems. It does so, by helping in:
- Improving the contents of academic programmes by helping with curriculum
- Diversify didactical approaches and modernise pedagogical tools and teaching methods
- Produce innovative teaching materials through the development of special materials where appropriate and the production of ICT and web based materials
- Foster inter-European mobility of faculty and students in the discipline.
