1. Overview
Starting from the work conducted by epsNet, it is especially rewarding
to shift the attention from the structural aspects of
the core curriculum in EU studies to the methodological and didactical
side. Therefore, this project
will focus on the establishment of three virtual e-learning
units on the European Convention, EU external relations and EU institutions
and modes of governance.
These modules will substantially add to the classical
teaching methods as they will combine theoretical approaches and categories
of political science on
new constitutional, institutional and procedural aspects
of the EU system with new approaches of online teaching and learning. By
collecting and comparing
best practices in the field, we aim at creating a trans-national
teaching and learning environment building upon synergy effects within
the Political Science
community.
2. Aims and Objectives
The team will produce 3 pilot e-learning modules,
to be developed and tested with
a view to existing courses and the contents established in
earlier phases. They will combine special knowledge
on the EU with online
learning methods. Students will learn to analyse
the EU system and single aspects
of it applying special theoretical approaches of
political science, using scientific
categories and exploiting the offers and possibilities of
EU institutions’ homepages
and internet resources. These modules will be
designed as multi-lingual, trans-national e-learning units integrating
innovative qualification
elements into EU studies
and analysing new phenomena of the EU system
and will offer students supplementary means for individual preparation
as well as a tailor-made
facility to deepen
and widen their personal knowledge. Learning
and preparation will become more independent of classroom and national
boundaries as well
as of set
dates and
teaching lessons.
3. General Output
Development of 3 e-learning units on EC external relations, European
Convention, EU institutions and modes of governance.
